Flying Pig Marathon

After signing up 50 volunteers, Eastside+ supported the Flying Pig's inaugural run through The Eastside with a loud and proud cheering section, and we bagged lots of discarded clothing shed by the participants as they headed uphill, crossing the Girl Scout bridge from Newport into Covington. Watching the sunrise with 20k people running through your neighborhood is a great way to start your day! "The Eastside site was one of the funnest we have ran through in a long time" said one long term participant. With hot grits filling cold bellies on a freezing Sunday morning and blasting R&B music helping to set the pace, Eastside+ showed that we know how to get Piggie with it. And now we all know that Pigs really can FLY.
